‘You haven’t…?’ asks Maren’s father when she comes home breathless and with abloodied mouth. Yes, she has. During a pajama party with friends, Marensuddenly cleaves a schoolmate’s finger to the bone – to the shock of thevictim and the spectator. So Maren and her father have to flee to anotherAmerican state in the middle of the night.

Obviously, this isn’t the first time Maren has indulged her cannibalistictendencies. It also explains that her door was locked and her window wasscrewed shut. Something beautiful arises between misfitsLee and Maren: Bones and All turns out to be an exceptionally romantic,melancholic cannibal film. Bones and All is the film adaptation of the 2015 young adult book of thesame name by Camille DeAngelis. The story takes place in the late 1980s, theera of President Reagan. The soundtrack includes Joy Division’s doomful’Atmosphere’, which perfectly underlines the black romantic feelings of thetormented protagonists, outcasts through their hunger for human flesh. Inaddition to unsavory chewing and smacking sounds, the plucking guitars ofTrent Reznor and Atticus Ross dominate the soundtrack. Atmospheric music, withan occasional dark undertone, that fits well with both the romantic and theroad movie aspects of Bones and All , which crosses several poor Americanstates. We see dinners photographed at twilight, atmospheric in their lack ofatmosphere. And paintless trailer parks, ugly supermarkets, endless rollinglandscapes. Meanwhile, David Kajganich’s layered screenplay feeds the viewerdribs and drabs of information: why won’t Lee talk about his father, whathappened to Maren’s mother?

As with Guadagnino’s previous film, his remake of Suspiria you can ask whathe has in mind: what does he want to say? Lee and Maren are happy together in places where no one is:the desolate landscape reflects their tragic nature. When Lee discovers a Kissalbum that features the band members with no makeup on, he is delighted. ButKiss without make-up is not Kiss. Just when the tire looks normal, it feelslike camouflage. Like with Lee and Maren.

P. ¿Cuántas horas ha dedicado para llegar en tan buena forma?

R . Muchas, cuando estuve lesionado abría y cerraba las instalaciones delLeipzig. Estaba de ocho de la mañana hasta las cinco o las seis de la tarde.Gimnasio, dobles sesiones, fisioterapia, conversaciones con mi psycologa y conmi padre…

P. ¿Y al equipo cómo lo ve físicamente? A Gavi ya Pedri les costó superarlas marcas individuales de los alemanes.

R . Al fútbol se gana con la pelota en los pies, corriendo también sepuede ganar, pero si no tienes la pelota…

P. Usted corre mucho tambien. ¿Le han medido las distancias?

R . Sí, estuve en diez kilómetros contra Alemania y contra Costa Rica algomás. Los datos de intensidad en estos partidos también son elevados.

P. Con Luis Enrique no les queda otra.

R . Y más a los delanteros, que nos exige tanto. Hay que dárselo.

P. ¿Por qué eligió Zagreb cuando dejó el Barça siendo juvenil?

R . El proyecto que me ofrecían tenía muchos ejemplos claros defutbolistas que salieron de allí como Modric, Mandzukic o ahora Gvardiol. ElDínamo es una máquina de sacar talento y pensé que era lo mejor para miprogresión y no me equivoqué. Croacia y Zagreb son mi segunda casa.

R . Puede ser, no es algo que me preocupe, pero creo que la gente cada vezme conoce más.

P. ¿Como le diría a la gente qué es dentro y fuera del campo?

R . Fuera soy tranquilo, amigo de mis amigos. Aquí hago de todo, juego albillar, al pimpón, a la pocha, al Mario Kart … soy un chico normal. Dentrodel campo soy ambicioso, con ganas de crecer.

P. Como extremo se le ve muy inteligente para atacar espacios.

R . Intento interpretar de la mejor manera el juego, como se mueven elrival y mis compañeros. El mister nos da consignas muy claras en el juegoposicional. Son movimientos que ya tengo automatizados, aunque hay veces quehay que improvisar para sorprender.

P. ¿Se encuentra cómodo como false new?

R . Sí, en el Leipzig estoy acostumbrado a jugar de mediapunta ya recibirentrelíneas y bajo presión. El mister me conoce bien, sabe que puedo jugar enlas tres posiciones de ataque y también como interior.

P. Su padre es entrenador. ¿Le ha ayudado a tener esa lectura del juego?

R . Mucho, cuando estaba en el Dínamo trabajábamos el análisis de lospartidos con y sin balón, la lectura de los espacios, el pace de juego,conocer al compañero y sus características. Nos gusta hacerlo, antes hablabamás él, ahora soy yo.

P. Con Jordi Alba sincroniza bien.

R . Es un lateral de clase mundial, te lo pone muy fácil. No centra porcentar, te la pone y es medio gol. Parece fácil, pero no lo es, no hay muchoscomo él. El otro día contra Alemania el pase que le da Morata es eso, un pase,hay otros laterales que llegan y se nublan. Jordi es lo contrario.

R . Messi sin lugar a dudas. No sólo en el aspecto futbolístico, en el quees evidentemente mejor, también me quedo con él en el aspecto personal. Noconcibo idolatrar a un personaje rodeado de tantos escándalos.

P. Tres cosas que sepa de Qatar.

R . Que si eres homosexual te enfrentas a una pena de cárcel de hasta 10años, que las mujeres están tuteladas por los hombres y que hay mucho, muchopetróleo.

R . Cuando me comunicaron que el presidente Pedro Sánchez quería queformase parte de la ejecutiva del PSOE llevando las políticas LGTBI. No puedosentirme más afortunado de que me otorgase esa huge responsabilidad. Soy unprivilegiado por estar donde estoy y por poder trabajar por hacer la vida delas personas LGTBI mejor.

P. ¿Cuál fue su primer partido en el campo? ¿Quién le llevó ao quién sellevó?

R . Fue un Atlético de Madrid-Betis, and el Vicente Calderón. Debía ser2005. Nuestro entrenador nos llevó a mi hermano ya mi.

P. ¿Cuál es el mejor partido que ha visto?

R . Como fan del Atleti, el Barcelona- Atlético de Madrid de la temporada2013-2014. Era la última jornada de Liga y quedamos campeones en un partidoinolvidable. R . Nunca he faltado a un entrenamiento ni a ninguna de misresponsabilidades por quedarme en casa viendo un partido, por muy importanteque fuese, pero sí he cancelado planes de ocio por el fútbol.

P. El sitio o las circunstancias más raras en las que ha consultado elmarcador de un partido de fútbol.

R . En el vestuario, antes de un partido internacional, momentos antes detirarme al agua.

R . Luis Aragones.

P. ¿Alguna superstición antes de salir al campo? ¿Rituals para las grandesocasiones?

R . ¡Muchísimos! Soy muy supersticioso para competir. Siempre me pongoesparadrapo en dos dedos, hago los mismos ejercicios en el calentamiento, tocolos tres palos de la portería antes de empezar, escucho las mismas cancionesen el mismo orden, me tomo un café justo antes de salir de casa y, si elúltimo partido fue bien, repito los mismos pantalones, ropa interior, reloj…Si no sale como yo quiero el partido, cambio algunas rutinas.
