Bridget Maasland criticizes relationship with younger Hazes: ‘Mega sexist’ | show

Bridget Maasland feels that her now broken relationship with André Hazes wastreated in ‘English tabloid-like ways’ at the time. She said this tonight in acandid conversation with Beau van Erven Dorens Island of Beau. “Someone fromevery corner had something to say about it. Everyone knew about it, whetheryou were a lawyer or worked in healthcare.”

The 48-year-old Maasland traveled to Sardinia in Italy to spend a few dayswith presenter Beau van Erven Dorens and artist Joseph Klibansky. The triodiscussed everything with each other, but Van Erven Dorens also escaped withhis guests for some one-on-one time. For example, he got into a conversationwith Maasland about the now broken relationship with André Hazes.

Van Erven Dorens confessed that a year ago he had the feeling that Maaslandwas depressed and would constantly sit at home alone. “So I never did that,”responded the presenter, who is now a lot more comfortable in her skin. “Inany case, there were a lot of scandals, which were much bigger. But I think wewere kind of the first to be treated in almost English tabloid-like ways. Thatis why it stood out”, Maasland looked back on her relationship with the28-year-old Hazes descendant. “Someone from every corner had something to sayabout it. Everyone knew about it, whether you were a lawyer or worked inhealthcare.”

Quote >>> Not even that relationship. I really liked that>> Bridget Maasland

She denounces the fact that Maasland was condemned by many people becauseHazes was twenty years younger. “Very sexist. But that’s because I’m a woman. It was about a relationship with a younger man. I have never heard of Tiëstomarrying a woman 28 years younger. That that was a big relationshipdifference, that that was actually not possible.”

Hard time

Although Maasland has known several ‘dark periods’ in her life, two momentsstand out, she told Van Erven Dorens. The divorce of Pepijn Padberg and theperiod after the break with Hazes. Not even that relationship. I really likedthat,” said Maasland. ,,But what came over me after that… there is also a verynice learning moment. It also helped me a lot.”

Would the blonde want to go back in time or is she happy with where she isnow? “Then I wouldn’t want to trade. Then I want to stay here. Certainly interms of uncertainty and knowing who you are and where you stand”, sheconcludes with satisfaction.

Hilarity in heavy conversation: baby of seriously ill couple lets wind and burps in news show | show

With videoA much-discussed British ‘miracle baby’ has caused hilarity during aheavy conversation by farting and burping live on TV on a BBC news show. Thepresenters of the usually prudish program only found it heartwarming. “We talkabout cancer and we laugh.”

James Jefferson-Loveday from the town of Evesham was diagnosed a year ago withHodgkin’s disease, a fairly rare form of lymph node cancer. The treatmentcould affect his fertility, so he and his wife Bethany decided to try for achild. Bethany was “overjoyed” when she got pregnant, but the pink cloud wasshort-lived.

After 21 weeks, she was found to have non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a slightlydifferent form of cancer in the lymphatic system. “The combination of beingpregnant and severe non-Hodgkin’s is extremely rare,” said treating physicianSalim Shafeek in a press release. “Bethany is the first case I’ve seen in my25 years as a hematologist,” said the man, who specializes in disorders aroundthe lymph nodes.

“I’ll never forget the moment I got my diagnosis,” Bethany said. “I rememberwondering how this could be because my husband was also being treated.” Thedoctors mentioned abortion as an option, and although Bethany had little hopethat the pregnancy would go well, she chose not to. The lovers both underwentchemotherapy during pregnancy, six grueling rounds in Bethany’s case.

A heavier treatment was not possible and neither was delay. Without chemo,Bethany would not survive, but the treatment had to be completed after 35weeks in order to recover in time for the delivery. A stroke of luck in anaccident: Husband James knew exactly what she was going through. When she losther hair, he also shaved. “Just like I did for him earlier in the year.”

After a caesarean section, baby Heidi was born perfectly healthy. “James and Iagree that her birthday is the best day of our lives,” said Bethany. “I havenever felt so happy. The doctor called Heidi a miracle. Looking back on thepast year, he is absolutely right.”

Both parents are now cancer-free and told their story on Thursday _Breakfast_on BBC One, the most famous morning program on British TV. During the show, which is known for being extremely neat, little Heidi first farted and thenburped. ,,Did she fart?” asked presenter Naga Munchetty. “She farted. I amtelling a very emotional story here. Please Heidi, let me finish this,” shejoked.

Nerd Culture #91 on Avatar 2, Oppenheimer & Terminator Reboot

Welcome to episode 91 of Nerd Culture, also on Christmas Day we will do ourbest to provide you with the much needed nerd hit. In episode 91 we dive backin the year 1991, discuss the Oppenheimer trailer and talk about a possibleTerminator Reboot. In addition, Jelle is also back!

Christopher Nolan drops new Oppenheimer trailer

This week dropped there the trailer for Christopher Nolan ‘s Oppenheimer.A film that we are not all looking forward to, but of which we cannot denythat the film contains a mega cast. Cillian Murphy absolutely steals the showin this trailer. It is mainly a lot of atmospheric images with a number ofquotes, but it was enough to hype the internet.

James Cameron is thinking about a Terminator Reboot

The Terminator franchise hasn’t had a real heyday since part two Judgment Day.Everything that came out after that was lukewarm, including the Cameron-produced Genisys and Dark Fate. According to the director, it was a mistake tobring back Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger because almost none of theteenagers remember these two elderly people from the original and it lost itseffect. The Avatar director is also thinking about a possible Terminatorreboot. This time without killer robots, but with a focus on artificialintelligence.

Hideo Kojima says Death Stranding is going to do everything differently

Video game adaptations don’t have a very good reputation. After Tomb Raider,Assassin’s Creed, Super Mario Bros (90’s) and recently Uncharted, we aretherefore not really enthusiastic anymore. Then suddenly the Death Strandingmovie was announced. However, Kojima says that he will do everythingdifferently and does not want to make the same as other movie games. We haveof course heard this before and we have our doubts. However, we like to besurprised by the legendary game developer!

Diego Luna as Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four?

This week there were rumors that Diego Luna would make his entrance into theMarvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps even more striking was the role he wouldplay: Mr. Fantastic. As you may know, Marvel is working on a new FantasticFour. Luna would be a striking choice. This week he addressed the ongoingrumors in a podcast.

Darlene Love is looking to collaborate on Christmas music with Mariah Carey!

Months after Love publicly questioned Carey’s attempt to trademark “Queen ofChristmas” for her own use, the 81-year-old vocalist is ready to move forwardand record a brand-new duet version of her holiday classic “Christmas (BabyPlease Come Home) )” alongside the “All I Want for Christmas Is You”superstar.

“That’s her wishlist for 2023, to invite Mariah to rerecord the song with herin the studio,” Love’s rep, Len Evans, tells PEOPLE, noting that his clienthas always “loved” Carey but “didn’t understand” her attempt to trademark the”Queen of Christmas” title.

When news that the 52-year-old “Hero” singer filed an application with the USPatent and Trademark Office to legally market herself as the “Queen ofChristmas” broke in August, Love took to Facebook to express her thoughts.

“Is it true that Mariah Carey trademarked ‘Queen of Christmas’?” she asked> in a Facebook post at the time. “What does that mean, that I can’t use that> title?”

Known for holiday staples such as “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “AllAlone on Christmas” from Home Alone 2: Alone in New York and “Christmastimefor the Jews” from Saturday NightLive Love then wrote, “David Lettermanofficially declared me the Queen of Christmas 29 years ago, a year before shereleased ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You,’ and at 81 years of age I’m NOTchanging anything.”

(Last month, fellow notable Christmas performer Elizabeth Chan announced theUS Trademark Trial and Appeal Board blocked Carey’s attempt of owning theexclusive rights to the title, along with her attempts to trademark “PrincessChristmas” and “QOC.”)

Since the video was posted, the remaining shows on Love’s holiday concert> tour have completely sold out, Evans tells PEOPLE, and Carey’s fans have> expressed immense support for Love.

“The last couple of shows that she was doing, they sold out right away, and acouple of the Mariah fans actually stood outside and wanted to get pictureswith her,” he says. “They said, ‘Hey, we didn’t like you, but we love younow,’ and she was just happy to hear that this was all ended on a verypositive note … Now, she loves [Carey] even more.”

Britons are secretly hoping for a ‘surprise’ in speech Charles | Royalty

Half of the British will not care much, according to a survey, but the otherhalf is looking forward to King Charles III’s very first Christmas performancewith some trepidation.

This afternoon at 4 pm Belgian time, the new British king will deliver hisvery first Christmas message as head of state following the death of hismother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Enthusiasts feast in advance on the historic event, because it is only thesecond time in more than sixty years that not a queen, but a king gives aChristmas speech on television. Prior to the Queen’s first televised addressin 1957, her predecessor, King George VI, still gave his speeches over theradio. The Christmas tradition, incidentally, started in 1932 with King GeorgeV, but has evolved over the years and can now also be viewed online.

Half of the country finds all this extremely fascinating. Royalists and fansof ‘The Crown’ naturally hope for a reference to Diana or to Harry and Meghan, who are now Netflix phenomena. Last year, the Queen paid tribute to herhusband Prince Philip, who passed away in October 2021, during her Christmasspeech.

But the other half (49 percent according to a survey by YouGov) of the Britssurveyed prefer to skip Charles. It is remarkable that of those who say theydeliberately do not watch, 9 percent did watch the Queen last year. EitherCharles does not (yet) have the status of his mother.

Second speech

Charles’ speech will be only his second speech as king. The first was inSeptember after the Queen’s death. Although this Christmas speech was recordeda few days ago, the head of state always speaks on Christmas Day, usually at 3pm local time, so an hour later with us. Since 1997, the BBC and ITV havetaken turns broadcasting the monarch’s Christmas speech, while news channelSky has only been allowed to participate since 2011.

Experts predict that Charles III will also pay homage to his mother, who diedin September at the age of 96. He will reflect on the celebrations surroundingher platinum reigning anniversary earlier this year. Charles will probablyalso reflect on the special change of prime ministers during the year, inwhich Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak successively involved 10Downing Street. The progress made in reducing Covid deaths and the ongoing waragainst Russia and Ukraine will also be reviewed. And, as insiders know, thereis a chance for a surprise. John Travolta messing up my name was ‘one of the best things that happened’

Idina Menzel has no hard feelings for John Travolta after the “Grease” starfamously botched her name at the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony. In fact, she’sglad it happened.

In a now-infamous Oscars moment, Menzel was about to take the stage to sing”Let It Go,” her signature song from the Oscar-winning movie “Frozen.” AllTravolta, one of the night’s presenters, had to do was introduce her. But theveteran actor somehow mispronounced her first and last names. (Adele Dazeem?)

In a Sunday Sitdown interview with Willie Geist, Menzel reflected on theincident. She remembers initially thinking, “I’m finally here and this guyscrewed up my name.”

But then she quickly told herself, “Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Get yours— together, you know? You gotta get ready to sing this note.”

Menzel added, “It ended up being one of the best things that happened for mycareer because all the people that had no idea who I was were like … ‘Who isthis girl?'”

During a 2021 appearance on “The Late Late Show’s” fun “Carpool Karaoke”> segment alongside her “Cinderella” co-stars Camila Cabello and Billy Porter,> Menzel shared a similar sentiment.

“I had eight seconds to say to myself, at first I felt really sorry formyself, like, ‘Meryl Streep’s out there. This is my big break and he just f—up my name,'” Menzel said, laughing. “And then eight seconds, the band starts,I am like, ‘Get your s— together. C’mon, this is your moment. Stop worryingabout that he messed up your name. Sing, b—!””

Porter then interjected, “Sing! And you did! I was watching.”

Menzel continued, explaining that she had intended to sing to her son, WalkerDiggs, whom she shares with her ex Taye Diggs.

“I was so nervous. I had meditated on this moment. I was going to sing to myson to really put perspective into everything and then that happened,” shesaid, now cracking up.

Looking back, the Broadway star said Travolta’s flub proved to be fortunate. After all, his mangled pronunciation of her name got everybody talking abouther. It also ended up connecting her with Travolta forever.

“It was the greatest thing that ever happened to me,” gushed Menzel, who addedof Travolta, “He’s written so many nice, apologetic emails. He’s sent flowers. He’s so kind. To make up for it, he would, like, fly wherever at this point,he’s so sweet.

“I just always say, ‘No worries because it was the best thing that everhappened,'” she added.

For his part, Travolta apologized for the mispronunciation in a publicstatement days after the ceremony.

“I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought … what would Idina Menzelsay, She’d say, Let it go, let it go!” he joked. “Idina is incredibly talentedand I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”

Menzel and Travolta ended up presenting together at the Academy Awards thefollowing year. Immediately after the ceremony, Travolta appeared on “JimmyKimmel Live!”

During the pair’s chat, Travolta opened up about his 2014 introduction fauxpas, explaining that there was much confusion backstage. Travolta recalled acrew member telling him he was due onstage at least 15 minutes sooner than heexpected.

Moments later, the former “Welcome Back, Kotter” star ran into Hollywoodlegend Goldie Hawn and became “starstruck.”

Before the frazzled actor knew it, he was tapped to go on. As he made his wayto the stage, he was told that his cue cards would now feature a _phonetic_spelling of Menzel’s name.

“So I go out there and I get to her thing and I thought, ‘Hmm,'” Travolta saidwith a confused look on his face.

The new phonetic spelling of Menzel’s name looked bizarre on the cards, saidTravolta, who recalled thinking, “I don’t know that name.”

“It was just a phonetic spelling, but I didn’t rehearse it that way,” he said.

After laughing about the matter with Kimmel, Travolta added that he was happythat Menzel had enjoyed “one of the best years” of her career since hisblundered introduction. “And she gives me credit,” he said, affirming.

Five years later, Menzel made it clear again that she looks back fondly onTravolta’s introduction. Just weeks before she performed “Into the Unknown”from “Frozen II” at the 2020 Academy Awards ceremony, Menzel referred to thespecial moment in atweet.

“When I was a little girl I dreamed of moments like these,” she wrote, adding,”Who is brave enough to introduce me?”
