Katherine Heigl worked to success as an actress, and once she attained it, shelearned that being a public figure meant being under the scrutiny of others.

The Grey ‘s Anatomy alum tells Yahoo Life that she had started acting as an“after-school activity” when she was a young girl, not having any focus onturning it into a career. But as soon as she and her mother made the decisionto move to Los Angeles to see if Heigl could make it big-time—which she did,with other early stints including 2007’s Knocked Up and 2008’s 27 Dresses— she loses herself in the process.

“Being suddenly kind of defined by public opinion was very new. And it wasvery positive at first, so it felt really good … And then it turned,” sheexplains over the phone, referring to being labeled as difficult to work with,ungrateful and unprofessional earlier in her career — sentiments that themedia often highlighted. “I did feel very isolated in it, I really got in myhead.”

Heigl had struggled with “mental instability” before and calls herself a”people pleaser,” noting that she’s gone to great lengths to earn favor and inturn became resentful about it.

“ It was really hard for me to have public opinions sway so far the otherdirection, and I wasn’t grounded or stable in my own self enough to notbelieve them myself,” she reflects. “So I spent a lot of time in my early 30’sworried that maybe they were right and I was this kind of person. But thendefending myself, in my own mind, it’s like that horrible neuroses andanxiety.”

Under the spotlight and the negative headlines, she wishes she had built up askillset to protect her wellbeing.

“It would have saved me a lot of eating the s*** out of myself. And maybe thatwould have been great and I could have gotten help sooner and I could havechanged it sooner,” she says, pondering what her experience would have beenlike if conversations of mental health had been more mainstream.”It’s, in myopinion, the worst thing I’ve been through as an adult, because I didn’tunderstand it. a moral or character weakness.”

She continues, “I was at such an incredibly heightened level of anxiety, andso afraid of every move I made and everything I said and everything I did …trying to be the perfect person to not ruffle any feathers … And I was like”Oh my god, I can’t win. I can’t win.” And it was just the super lonely placebecause I let it mean so much to me.”

A piece of overcoming all of that — the unsavory headlines, the reputation andthe internalization of it — was simply getting older, Heigl says.

“I’m about to turn 44 and I’ve started looking back a bit, because you’ve gotenough to look back on. And I have a lot of regrets,” she says. “I getfrustrated with myself for not knowing better, and I didn’t know better. So Idon’t know how I could have made different choices, not having any betterunderstanding. But I wish I had known better, I guess, and that I had notspent so much time in this dark place of fear.”

She then quotes Maya Angelou saying, “Do the best you can until you knowbetter. Then when you know better, do better.” It’s something that Heigl’s momwould often remind her of — and something she keeps in mind in an effort toshow her younger self some grace. Eventually, the hardships pushed her to gainperspective.

“That kind of coming to was I guess born out of all that anxiety, all thatconfusion, all that inner turmoil of my early 30s,” she explains. “But I stillwish it hadn’t happened.”

A bigger piece of coming out on the other side was educating herself on mentalhealth, getting the proper help and ultimately being put on medication.

“It essentially saved my life,” she says.

Now, through her portrayal of Tully Hart, who is fiercely dedicated to herjob, on the Netflix series Firefly Lane , which resumes with part one ofseason two on Friday, Heigl is better able to reflect on the choices that shemade throughout her career, and how she took the opportunity to turn trivialmoments into triumphs throughout her life.

“I wouldn’t be who I am right now with the life I have right now if I hadn’tgone through a lot of that. The career stuff, the mental health stuff, theloneliness and isolation,” she says. “I wouldn’t have figured out how to takecare of myself and I can now.”

She also credits relocating to Utah to raise her children and connect withnature for being a vital piece in the process of reconnecting with herself.

“Moving up here was a big step towards separating myself from my publicpersona, and spending more time with my private persona than my publicpersona, so that I could differentiate better,” she explains. “My life is thebest it’s ever been and it has nothing to do with my career. Well, some of itdoes. But it has more to do with my ability to wake up in the morning and findjoy and gratitude in the things that really matter to me … I don’t know if Iwould have learned those lessons any other way.”

Jason David Frank’s cause of death has been revealed.

The Power Rangers star died by suicide, his wife, Tammie Frank, told_People_ magazine.

Tammie said in a statement that her husband, an actor and martial artist,”tragically lost his life to suicide” on Nov. 19. They were in the process ofworking on their 19-year marriage after a separation and were away for whatwas supposed to be a “fun weekend getaway.” She called the 49-year-old’s death”as much a shock to me as anyone else,” and cleared up rumors they had gotteninto a fight the night of his death.

“While Jason was a well-known name to some, we lived a very normal life withups and downs, just like anyone else,” Tammie said. “It has shocked andsaddened me beyond belief to see that the media has turned my family’s tragedyinto a tall tale. Since Jason’s death, I have been harassed online and can nolonger stand to watch my husband’s good name slandered.”

Tammie said she loved Jason, who was best known for portraying the Green andWhite Rangers, and they were “trying to work through our problems. His deathcomes as much a shock to me as anyone else. The truth is, I had no idea thatJason was thinking of ending things. Yes, he had struggled with mental healthissues and depression before, but I could never predict what would happen thatnight.”

She confirmed that they separated earlier this year. That split occurred afterthe sudden death of her daughter Shayla, whom Jason helped raise as his own.Tammie said Jason was the one who found Shayla. She admitted they werestruggling with that loss, which “wrecked our family emotionally,” whilesimultaneously raising Shayla’s baby boy. That put pressure on their marriageand they split, but reconciled six weeks ago. They were taking things slow,but the weekend he died, they were on a two-day trip to attend a countrydancing event and work on their marriage after their “especially hard year.”

“It was meant to be a fun weekend getaway, and instead, I lost the love of mylife,” she said. “Jason was a good man, but he was not without his demons. Hewas human, just like the rest of us.”

They had separate rooms at their Texas hotel, which was normal, she said, andadmitted they received a noise complaint from hotel guests that night.However, she said it wasn’t because they were “fighting,” as reported, butbecause they were “having some fun.”

“We danced and stayed out at the event until the bar closed,” she explained.”When we got back to the hotel, Jason and I were having a heartfelt andemotional talk in his room. To help Jason relax and sober up before turningdown to sleep, I went downstairs to get us snacks from the lobby. I must’ vebeen gone no more than 10 minutes. I went back upstairs and began knocking onthe door to no answer. I knocked repeatedly and kept calling for his name toopen the door.”

Tammie said she wasn’t sure who called the police, but after they arrived, shewas escorted downstairs while authorities opened the door “and found thatJason took his life. These were the ‘disturbances’ that has been brought upnumerous times online. “

She called for people to “stop making assumptions and leave my family togrieve peacefully.” She said their family wants to remember their “happiestmemories” of Jason, and asked only for “sympathy and understanding during thisdifficult time.”

It was reported on Nov. 20 that Jason had died with no cause of deathimmediately shared by the family.

“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horribletime as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” saidhis rep. “He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will be trulymissed.”

Tammy shared photos of them together through the years in an Instagram post.She wrote: “The loss of my soulmate. Jason, I can’t go on without you! You aremy world! Yes we had our struggles like any marriage. But months ago we bothagreed it was worth saving. Deep conversations, vulnerability , forgiveness onboth our parts. I am deeply lost, hurt and utterly destroyed. I lost my oneand only true love. I am your forever ‘Firecracker’ baby…till we’re togetheragain.”

Jason, a father of four, was best known for his Power Rangers roles —initially Green and later White. He played Tommy Oliver on the show’s originalrun, from 1993 to 1995, and then appeared in Power Rangers Zeo, Power RangersTurbo and the other show offshoots. He continued to reprise the role foryears, last appearing as 2018’s Power Rangers Ninja Steel for the 25thanniversary of the series.

He also had guest spots on Sweet Valley High and Family Matters and didvoice work in the video game Smite for the _Transformers: Titans Return_miniseries.

It’s not TV — it’s Showtime. And according to Jessica Chastain, her newprestige cable series George & Tammy plays like “a six-hour movie” ratherthan an episodic show.

The 45-year-old actress portrays celebrated country crooner Tammy Wynette inthe six-part series, which creator Abe Sylvia and director John Hillcoatadapted from the memoir, The Three of Us: Growing Up With Tammy and George ,written by the couple’s daughter, Georgette Jon. Chastain has been attached toplay Wynette since 2011, and the project was initially announced as a movie,with Josh Brolin playing Wynette’s husband and musical collaborator GeorgeJones — now played by her Taking Shelter co-star Michael Shannon.

“There were many years that we were trying to get this off the ground as afilm,” Chastain tells Yahoo Entertainment at an interview marking the UKlaunch of Paramount, adding that condensing the full arc of Wynette andJones’s turbulent relationship into a two- hour theatrical feature would havebeen a difficult — and pricey — task. “[We would] not really be able to getinto where they came from and why they are the way they are as a film,” theactress says. “Also, it would have been expensive, because you have so muchmusic!”

“[We thought] if we could tell this story as a six-hour film, then you’rereally able to get to know the characters, get to know where their pain comesfrom and why they have so much difficulty being happy in some sense,” Chastaincontinues “Nothing about it feels episodic. It feels like the movies they usedto make — these four-hour epics. I feel like in the last 20 years, [peoplehave started to say] ‘It’s gotta be 90 minutes or less.’ I really love moviesthat allow me to get to know the things that maybe some executive in some roommight not think are very interesting, but for me are the must interesting.”

In real life, Jones and Wynette fell in love while touring together in the> late ’60s, leading Wynette to leave her husband, Don Chapel, before marrying> Jones in 1969. The two stayed together until 1975, ultimately driven apart> by Jones’s alcoholism and chronic absences. Wynette — who wrestled with her> own addiction to painkillers — died in 1998, and Jones followed in 2013.

Although the series is based on their daughter’s memoir, both Wynette andJones wrote their own autobiographies that contain different accounts of theirtumultuous relationship. “There are so many competing versions of all of thesestories,” Shannon acknowledges. “Our scripts are loosely based on Georgette’sbook … but then you read George’s autobiography, you read Tammy’sautobiography and all of the other books that have been written about them andit’s hard to figure out which version is the truth.”

“They had a lot of ups and downs,” Shannon continues. “With George, he wouldactually be pretty healthy for a while and get his act together and then fallapart again.” For Chastain, though, Wynette’s slide into addiction moreclosely resembled “a slow descent into hell.” At the same time, she also seeshope in their story. “Even though they end up marrying other people, they’restill so connected. It’s almost like a spiritual connection that they have. Itgoes on beyond relationships, it goes on beyond death.”

Chastain and Shannon do all of their own singing in George & Tammy_with _TheEyes of Tammy Faye Oscar winner belting out one of Wynette’s most famoustracks, “Stand by Your Man.” That 1968 tune was memorably referenced by HilaryClinton in a 1992 TV interview about former President Bill Clinton’s allegedinfidelities. “You know, I’m not sitting here, some little woman standing bymy man like Tammy Wynette,” Clinton said at the time.

Chastain confesses that she found the prospect of taking on “Stand by YourMan” more daunting than performing any of the songs from Tammy Faye Bakker’sback catalogue. “That song is something that you hear over and over again andit’s so entrenched in the history of country music,” she notes. Also, thegender debate [around it]. It’s such a loaded song that I think most of mynervousness came from that aspect of it.”

“I thought it was pretty critical, because a lot of the story of these twopeople is told through the songs,” notes Shannon. “A lot of the emotion andthe relationship that they had was from singing together, whether they weremarried or divorced or married to other people or throughout their life. Theycame together when they sang and they had a very intimate communication withone another that I don’t think we could have accomplished if we were just lipsyncing to the music.”

Shannon also believes that country music is a crucial part of Americanculture, with performers like Wynette and Jones serving as avatars for workingpeople through their songs. “Both George and Tammy really are salt of theearth people. They come from very humble, rough origins and they really had towork so hard to achieve the success that they had. A lot of these songs areabout love, which is I feel universal.Even though [country music] is a veryAmerican idiom, it’s also a very universal one.”

Given that Chastain now has two Tammy’s on her filmography, is she perhapslooking for a third to complete the hat trick? “I think we’re gonna just haveto create a Tammy — Tammy the Terrible,” she says, laughing. “Maybe I couldplay a character named Tammy the Terrible. I’d see that!”

The film shows what happens when someone doesn’t feel seen or heardbecause of her weight. “Actually, it’s a superhero movie,” the directorexplains. “It’s about the resurrection of the innocent Sara. It’s a coming-of-age story.”

Fat shaming is a touchy subject. This is also apparent when NU.nl approachesvarious Dutch actresses to talk about their experiences. Although theseactresses have been candid in previous interviews, they regret that thediscussion is still about weight. And so they do not want to speak to NU.nl.

“Fat actresses don’t get hired because producers want famous names,” ShannonPurser previously told E! News. According to the Stranger Things actress,there are few well-known overweight actors, because they simply don’t get achance. “Because the movie industry just sees us as an object.” The 25-year-old actress became lonely because she did not feel understood and saw fewexamples.

Hollywood’s dearth of overweight people is no coincidence. “It’s just aboutprofit in the film world,” says Pereda. ‘Attractive’ people bring in money.And if you don’t fit into that slim, handsome straitjacket, it’s suffering.Especially for women, says the director.

A good example is the story of Kate Winslet. Her road to success was not easy.At the beginning of her career, she almost snagged the role of Rose Titanic(1997) because she feared criticism of her appearance. The actress was bullieda lot in high school. Her peers said she would never make it in Hollywoodbecause she was “too fat”.

After the release of Titanic Winslet was painfully reminded of this; gossipmagazines talked about her body and even gambled how much she weighed.Comedian Joan Rivers made a joke about the famous scene where Rose and Jack(Leonardo DiCaprio) don’t fit together on the floating door and Jack drowns.”If Kate would lose some weight, he would have just fit in.”

According to director Pereda, the film industry is in its 30s since Titanic_changed, but not enough. Movies like _The Nutty Professor see them beingmade. “Only the conversations within mainstream television are now more aboutpeople, instead of money. But that’s not enough.”

Pereda doesn’t want to hear words, but see actions. That’s why she doesn’tlook at someone’s size during castings for her films. “It just has to be aboutsomeone’s talent, right?”

Gourmet food is delicious, but you don’t want to smell it the next day. How doyou do that? Jet van Nieuwkerk does it like this:

Step 1: Turn on the extractor hood

Turn on the extractor hood during grilling. For example, a large part of theodor immediately goes outside through the extractor hood and it lingers lessin your house.

Step 2: Orange with cloves

Fill an orange completely with cloves and place it near your dining table.This gives off a wonderful fresh scent and at the same time absorbs theintense gourmet scent.

Step 3: Ground coffee

Put freshly ground coffee on the dining table. The oils released from theground coffee dissolve any unwanted odors. You can also put this container inthe fridge or freezer to neutralize all the odors of your prepared Christmasdinner.

Step 4: Cooking vinegar

Afterwards, put a small pan with a little vinegar on the fire. The vaporsneutralize the gourmet smell. That’s much better than using air fresheners,which just mix with all the gourmet smells.

Step 5: Light the bay leaf

By lighting a bay leaf and letting the vapors pass through the room, youquickly remove the gourmet air. The vapors from the leaf may also help againstChristmas stress. They make your muscles relax. This reduces stress andtension.
